Muktinath Temple
A famous pilgrimage site, Muktinath Temple is sacred to both Hindu and Buddhist devotees. Known as the god of liberation, Muktinath is worshipped as a form of Lord Vishnu by the Hindus and Avalokiteshwara by the Buddhists. The temple complex, also known as Mukti Kshetra, meaning place of liberation literally, also houses 108 holy water spouts where pilgrims take baths, and Jwala Mai Temple worshipped for its sacred flame fueled by natural gas among other attractions. Also on the premises are the Buddha statue and the picturesque garden.

Kagbeni
Known as the gateway to Upper Mustang, Kagbeni is also a sacred site for the Hindus as they pay homage to their ancestors on the bank of Kali Gandaki River. Nilgiri Mountain shines down to the inner core of the village filled with ancient deities as well as the outskirts filled with apple orchards and millet yards. Picturesque on its own, this village is a reflection of Tibetan architecture and life, still preserved within the monasteries, houses, and alleys.

Jharkot Village
Jharkot village lies on the way from Kagbeni to Muktinath and is known for its rustic, old vibe. From its palaces to monastery, Jharkot feels like a different dimension, as we can find traces of its old grandeur still around. Jharkot is also famous for its healing center, and is a perfect destination to immerse oneself in Tibetal culture and lifestyle.

Marpha Village
Popularly known as the Apple capital of the country, the old village of Marpha is home to the Thakali community. The village has long been a stop along the trekking route of Annapurna Circuit and Upper Mustang, providing a much-needed break through its apple orchards and beautiful white stone houses. It is also an amazing destination for travelers interested in immersing themselves in the local cultures, exploring its namesake liquor, the local apple brandy as well as other apple products.

Jomsom
Jomsom, the Gateway to Mustang, is known for its stunning mountain views, strong afternoon winds, and rich culture. It sits near the Kali Gandaki Gorge, where travelers seek sacred Shaligram fossils. The town is famous for Muktinath Temple, a major pilgrimage site, and its delicious apples and local apple brandy. Trekkers love the Jomsom-Muktinath route, offering breathtaking views of Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri. With its blend of Tibetan and Thakali culture, cozy lodges, and warm hospitality, Jomsom is a perfect stop for adventurers and spiritual seekers alike.

Dhumba lake
Located at an altitude of 2830 m, Dhumba Lake is considered a holy lake in the Mustang region for both Hindus and Buddhists. The lake is fed with icemelt from the Nilgiri mountain and is surrounded by lush greenery and colorful flowers. It is a haven for nature lovers, whether you enjoy the calming feel of the lake or are an avid birdwatcher.

May
Tiji Festival
The Tiji Festival is a sacred and vibrant annual celebration held in Lo Manthang, Upper Mustang, Nepal during the month of May. Rooted in Tibetan Buddhism, this three-day festival commemorates the triumph of good over evil, particularly the victory of Dorje Jono, a deity who defeated a destructive demon to save the Mustang region. The festival is marked by elaborate masked dances performed by monks from the Choede Monastery, colorful traditional attire, and deeply spiritual rituals aimed at dispelling negative forces and bringing prosperity. Pilgrims and tourists alike gather to witness this spectacular event, which blends religious devotion with cultural grandeur against the stunning backdrop of the Mustang landscape.

August
Yartung Festival
The Yartung Festival is a joyous and exhilarating festival celebrated in the Mustang, Manang, and Dolpo regions of Nepal, marking the end of the monsoon season. Held during the full moon of August, Yartung is best known for its thrilling horse races, where skilled riders showcase their agility and speed.
